"only muslims grow long beard" is just not true. I'm a white Anglo-Saxon lapsed Christian (now Humanist) male and I used to have the "terrorist" beard - a goatee down to my chest. But so many ignorant people saw it as a sign, that I had to shave it off.

As for "they never come to a fun place", I'm a software architect & work 70-hour weeks. I go out maybe once every 6-8 weeks.

But as someone else alluded to - Jesus Christ may well have looked very much like Osama Bin Laden. Come to think of it, he was an insurgent trouble-maker too - fortunately, he used non-violent methods to affect change.

my Dad is clean shaven (he's Muslim). It's really a cultural thing, as well as following the Prophet. As for the religious practices, it's a religion just like any other, offering their followers life after death, whether it be living it up in a swanky place, being eternally damned or being reincarnated; and giving them a code of conduct to live by.

I'm Muslim, plus a girl at that, and I play football, so what are you saying? I'm assuming by 'fun', you mean down the pub? I do lots of fun stuff -- just 'cos I can't drink alcohol doesn't mean I can't play sports and cool stuff.

I like the answer from aziz...

Anyway, where do you come up with such a stupid question? Most religions have or have had some very outward display of their religion that seems/seemed odd to those not part of it. In the US, Christianity happens to be the most mainstream grouping, so it's religious expressions are viewed as mostly normal by most Americans, but that doesn't mean they are less extreme than those of other religions.

Your definition of normal is a bit biased don't you think? Jesus himself (at least in his depictions) had long hair and a beard. Jews wear a kippot (the hats).

Being a muslim is about a way of life, as much as it is about a religion. Christians like myself feel the same way.

As far as the praying in public - that's part of the religion. Also we live in a very secular nation - but that doesn't stop many people for praying before their meals, for example.

There's nothing abnormal about that.

uh Uh Uh! Dont you feel any sense of guilt for being stupid? First of all havent you seen hasidic jews with beards and hats with curls dangling down the sides of their faces?
Dont you even watch at least the news to see clean shaven muslims? Stand outside of any mosque and watch the men walk past you and see the many clean-shaven men.
On Muslim holidays watch the muslim families take their children to Chucky Cheeses for a full day of celebrating. See muslim families in the parks barbecuing in summer. Because of your ignorance you have missed seeing them because they look just like any other Americans. Ask some of your friends if they know muslims where they work and what they look like.
Sometimes they rent public places like sports arenas to celebrate with food games etc and prayer on muslim holidays.

Muslims are not the only ones. How about The Amish, Orthodox Jews, Hindus in India.

because our purpose in life is not to have selfish fun all the time.

just because people don't do or enjoy the same things you do doesn't mean they are wrong.

I'm a Muslim and like riding superbikes across south-east-asia. is that wrong or weird?

What is 'normal' anyway and who is anyone to define it?
