I don't know the language - i thought it might be spanish or portuguese but cannot find it in a translation dictionary. thought someone out there would know language/meaning.

I have searched on the net ... it seems to exist in spanish referring to legal familial matters but their is NOTHING like it in any of the dictionnaries I tried.
Where in the world did you fall upon this word ?

The word you posted doesn`t exist in Portuguese. It is part of several word, however.

Assistência - to assist
Resistência - resistance
Desistência - give up

sounds similar to sustenance or resistance..... just guessing its portuguese...
