Yes it can lead to a very SEVERE STROKE as well as damage your Intestinal Tract, Kidneys, Liver and Spleen.
Wood Grain Alcohol even at low Proof will also do the same, and Rubbing Alcohol also known as Isopropyl is even more deadly yet it has been known to be Toxic enough to kill even in small ingested amounts..

i don't recall hearing about this, though, i suppose, it could lead to high blood pressure, which could lead to cataracts... which could lead to blindness. but that's not because of high proof, it's because of high volume (ie, YEARS AND YEARS of heavy drinking). you may be mistaking the fact that drinking wood or isopropyl alcohol, which many not-to-be-drunk alcohols are POISONED with can drive you blind with this tidbit. also, homemade alcohols, if improperly made, can do so.

I think what you are referring to is homemade "moonshine." There were numerous incidents in the past where people went blind from drinking it. But it was not the alcohol itself but how it is was made. There were high levels of toxins in it...I think lead...that lead to the blindness.

You are poisoning yourself.. I had a friend when younger who broke out in red hives every time he touched the stuff. That was when cowboys thought it was cool do be drunk, the other guys used to give him so much crap over it. So I would not doubt that a person could go blind.....
