I like Harry Potter. I also like thillers like the DaVinci code. I like books that aren't dirty. Violence is okay.

Depending on what kind of stories you like... you have only mentioned fictional works, so I will give you a small list of some of my fav Action/Adventure, Sword & Sorcery type books:

Curse of the Mistwraith - by Janny Wurts (really good sword and sorcery, but only if you like epic stories)
A Game of Thrones - by G.R.R. Martin
When True Night Falls - by C.S. Friedman
The Death Gate Cycle - by Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman
Silverthorn (forgot the author)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
White Fang by Jack London (a story about a wolf cub)

.... that's all I can think of for now. I hope that helps. Enjoy.

Try

Dean Koontz

Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" - It has been said to be similar to Harry Potter.

I personally love Laurrell K Hamilton's books, you could start off with the first few, starting with "Guilty Pleasures", but after the first 3 or so it does get a bit dirty.

Umberto Eco - Focaults Pendulum is far better (and older) then the DaVinci Code.

Also Try David Eddings, if your a potter fan (which I am) you will enjoy his books most likely.

Read books by the former Queen's Jockey, Dick Francis. He writes stories which have to do with the racing world or there is some connection with horses. The books have fantastic names like Hot Money, Straight, Decider, Wild Horses, Shattered etc. They are simply unputdownable. You'll see.

C'mon over and borrow one, I have LOTS! (g) Alice Hoffman is always a good read. Eric Jerome Dickey is good as long as you don't mind graphic sex. I always ask the local librarian and at a book store; the clerks there are always good about sharing their favorites. Right now I'm reading "The Time Traveler's Wife", which is good and recommended by a "Borders" sales clerk.

If you want a bit of a thrill, check out The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule. It's about Ted Bundy (the serial killer) and her relationship with him. It's pretty creepy but it's a great read!

You would probably like anything by David Eddings. Have you tried the various Sherlock Holmes stories by A. C. Doyle?
