Eric Clapton..."Tears From Heaven". The reason behind the song is sooooooooooo sad. And it came out right around when my grandmother died. I couldn't hear it for a few years without crying. It still gives me a big twinge!

Little girl by John Michael Montgomerey. It's about a little girl being raised by two addicted parents and the dad shoots the mom and then himself. It ends nice but it's a sad song at least to me

Mark Knopfler's haunting guitar solo in the song Brothers In Arms is one to remember.

Alone again, naturally by Gilbert Sullivan. His parents die and he is about to commit suicide. Seriously, I was a little girl and loved the melody so much, it made me feel good. I finally understood the lyrics as a adult.

here's a whole playlist of songs that are sound so sad to me:

fiona apple - "never is a promise"
jimmy eat world - "hear you me"
anthony hamilton - "pass me over"
des'ree - "kissing you"
REM - "everybody hurts"
eric clapton - "tears in heaven"
michael rossback - "best dreams"
imogen heap - "hallelujah"
donny hathaway - "for all we know"
lizz wright - "fire"
marc broussard - "untitled [gavin's song]"
garth brooks - "the dance"
OAR - "home"
mariah carey/boyz II men - "one sweet day"
boyz II men - "it's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday"

...i think that's enough.

the reason why these are my choices? well, they all SOUND pretty sad...and at different points in my life, i listened to each of these on repeat. handling the death of my grandma and my step-dad, the loss of my sister, broken heart, moving away from friends and family or friends and family moving away from me, and other rough times.

mostly anything by Coldplay, their lyrics are deep, and I feel I can relate to almost all of them. Sometimes when I'm sad, it's good to listen, and just have a good cry.

alone again (naturally) by gilbert o' sullivan. it's sad (though i don't cry) because of the pathetic life the man in the song is living.
