my gf keeps insisting that she wants to move to the UK for her work. The thing is, we're not even engaged yet and her mama is not too keen on marrying us off either. So, would it be bad for our relationship?

No they don't work for very long. They consist of phone calls, emails and im's, how long is that enough? If its for a predetermined amount of time perhaps but not long periods of time.

Yes, they do work. My gf and I have been dating over a year and we couldnt be happier. She lives 5 hours away from me. We make the most of our time together, and she has entered college close to me. Keep the faith and dont listen to anyone who tells you it cant work.

most of the long distance relation are fail. Long distance realtionship means you give the empty space to someone else to fullfill which is big risk that someone will take your spouse's heart and make your spouse heart's turn from you.

They do work if both parties are willing to make it work. Otherwise, you'll both grow apart due to different experiences and your relationship won't survive. Would yours work? I dunno, only time will tell if it will or not.
