I take the view that it was a diversionary tactic by Blair and Bush to take away attention from Israel. Just too convenient.

The BBC reported that since 9/11 over 900 people have been arrested on Terrorist Charges, less than 20 have been convicted in any form of terrorist related activity.

Based on past experience I believe nothing from either of these administrations.
They expect us to trust them but have shown every reason why we shouldn't.

Of course I do, they have published a list of all the people they have arrested and frozen their bank accounts an assets.

Definitely not. The timing is too convenient. Blair needed a boost as he is leaving Downing street with his tail between his legs and American elections are just around the corner. We get some of those threats alerts every time Bush is down in the polls.

It is also a good way to divert attention from from the Lebanon/Israel which America is a big part of and more and more people are standing against the Israeli agression.

As far as the alledged evidence found by the police, we all know how good the English and the Americans services are when it comes to falsifying documents or creating false ones.
i.e. proof of WMD in Irak that Powell presented to the UN.......
Nuff said.

I want to believe that it was real and it has been foiled, that our governments are able to deal with possible threats. Yet, in some ways I wish it was just, as you say, 'a diversionary tatic'. It is very worrying that British citizens could plan to carry out something so horrific.

If it was just Blair and Bush trying to take the world's eyes off of what's going on in Israel then it's worked. Although shame on them...there really are people dying there. Not just a threat.

But if it had happened, I'm sure Bush would have loved it. Another reason to condone his 'war on terror', and I'm sure he would have found some connection to allow him to justify invading another country he doesn't like (Iran anyone?)

And of course Blair would trot along behind like a good poodle.

Yes, I believe attacks were foiled. The police just don't pick up the phone and get Blair on the line telling them to go out and round up some people because it's politically convenient.

The fact that the courts have a low conviction rate on terrorism charges shows how scrupulously fair they are. Better a hundred guilty men go free than one man be wrongfully convicted is a principle in our system. Would you rather they arrested 900 people and convicted them all?

Interesting question. Have u any thing to back up your theory? Ask the people who were due to fly out over the last 2 days & have had flights cancelled/delayed? You seem to send over the idea we are terrorist free. The truth is both Blair & Bush (B for Bad note!!) are the real terrorists. Some people never learn in Politics.

You have no idea do you - of course there was a plot.

Why don't you really say what you mean i.e. you think the world hates muslims. Well here's news - it is starting to get that way. Why don't you sort your own house out before complaining. There are people in the community who know who the Fanatics are - don't tell me there aren't. Why are they hiding them?

I am 100% against the war in Iraq, totally against what Israel is doing in the Middle East and completely anti-american in it's Foreign Policy. So why are these people targeting me and my young family? And why are you complicit to this by excusing these people on the grounds that UK politicians have made these decisions. I am innocent, my young family is innocent. It's Tony Blair who isn't.....Jack Straw....why are these people not making the effort to change their minds.

So in conclusion - yes - the plot is real and the threat from Muslims is also real - as real as the IRA was. During the War in Ireland - lots of IRISH people were targeted and people in England were on alert against Irish people acting suspiciously - you do the math - guess what we are on guard against now? It isn't white middle class males that are carrying out the bombs - its British Asian Males (Or is that made up too....were the tubes bombed as a cover for John Prescotts over spending in his department?)

Until the Muslim community calls for peace unequivically (and without them in the same breath saying "But the middle east etc..") and routes out the very small number (but growing) number of fanatics then you are all going to be looked at with nervous eyes by white England and here's the thing - That is exactly the tactic of these "Terror Networks" they want division. And the Muslim community is giving them that on a plate.

Blair and Bush are not bright enough to conspire to anything.

That said, there are far too many idiots in Canada, the UK and the USA who feel some strange attraction to countries not their own.

What goes through the minds of these "home grown" terrorists?
Is their religion so hateful and without empathy or honor that they must attack innocent people?

Our laws are designed to deal with criminals intent only on predating the innocents of society. Our laws are currently inadequate to deal with those with designs on creating anarchy and chaos. But eventually we will tire of these would be terrorists and much more draconian measures will be taken.

What the terror leaders fail to understand is that if enough fear is sown, they will only cause all Muslims to be gathered together as has been done to others in the past.

Then let them deny a holocaust then!

At least the bloody IRA attacked soldiers (I am not condoning them) Except for the attacks against the USS Cole and the marine barracks in Lebanon, al Quaeda types have been cowards, never having the conviction to take the fight against their true enemies. Baby killers and attackers of coffee house patrons will never win converts of any consequence to their cause.

Which only proves how unjust it is.

It's all Bush and Blair's fault. They are meanies! BLAH BLAH BLAH. Why the hell would Bush want to stop this? I'm sure that he had some insurance policy on the planes and would collect millions!!! Common you stupid hippie, Bush would have wanted this to happen. If he would have allowed this to happen like 9/11, he would have had all the support in the world. By the way, would you like to buy some beach side property in Arizona from me? Also, why are the liberals so judgmental before the facts are out? God forbid that we might have saved lives.

Of course I do, they have published a list of all the people they have arrested and frozen their bank accounts an assets.

Police have also found two Martyrdom tapes which are meant to be played months after the attacks so I think they have got them bang to right this time.

Hope that answers your question and if you are British you should be proud that we have 24 terrorists who were going to commit an attack bigger than 9/11 in custody just waiting to be debriefed / interrogated

Good lord, I wish they'd hurry up with these ID Cards, I'd feel a hell of a lot safer with those being forced into everyone. And I bet those pesky Arabs are behind all this, with backing fro Iran no doubt.

Incidentally, does anyone know what happened to all the other "foiled terror plots" that have happened over the past 3 years and what became of the people involved, or did they all just fade off into the distance without another word being said, a route that no doubt the above is destined for...

It could of course be a ruse to try and cut down on more flights? We heard at the start of the week that more tax should be added to flights and now we'll have flights with ridiculously strict rules. Maybe another ban of 100- odd"unsafe" airlines, go all out to try and reduce 25% of current flights. That's quite a lot of fuel saving.

VERY interesting that this happened only yesterday:

Despite the media's rabid attempt to whip up a fear frenzy, it seems the British public are finally thinking for themselves, as the BBCs "Have Your Say" website shows:

What a relief. I just hope the powers that be don't now up the ante in order to push their Orwellian nightmare through.

...mind you, it could all be hype for "Snakes On A Plane" ;)

I believe that bush was using the terrorist threats as a political tool to get some popularity and shut up oppositions. now Blair in such bad situation so he is using the same tactic.
