i am not living in my home country and people who know me here don't pronounce my name right?

i have told them how to pronounce my name but they say something else.I have lived in this country for twenty years and learned the language i think if i can learn a whole new language they should be able to learn one single word.doesnt it sound wired?

dependign on what your home country is and what sounds make up your name, it could be very hard to learn it. it would take lots of practice for an english native speaker to say my name also, as at least one of the sounds in it does not exist in the english language. it takes a long time and a lot of practice to learn an entirely new sound. only those people that deal with you on a daily basis should be expected to learn how to say it properly, because they're the only ones who would use the name often enough. don't take it personally. what i did for those people i am barely acquainted with, is pick an english name i like, and have them call me by that time instead. that way, they don't butcher my real name.
