If I found any problem with any of my pets, I would take them to the vets ASAP, not ask people on yahoo answers. I keep seeing questions like, my dog has a lump, or my cat is being sick and not eating. Am I the mad one who would not waste any time and get them to a vet to get a professional opinion

I have no idea why people would do that, I toatally agree with you if my dog had a lump or my cat was sick and not eating i would call the vet faster than you can say omg my cat is sick, i love my babies to much to wast any time, i certanily wouldnt be asking strangers who may not know what their talking about and just trying to get 2 points. (no offence but you know some people may not have a clue about what their talking about)

I do agree that the first place I would be at is the Vet, not on yahoo. If don't know what the "lump" is or how caused. Won't find out really from yahoo. Can get idea's from people of how. but won't solve the issue until examined the enviroment, the horse (as example since I own horses) and with the vet for proper treatment.

However, I think it is a good thing to get advice from others just incase they had the same situation. Then can find out what they did, what they didn't do and the outcome of the situation.

Can be around horses for lets say 30+ years and still learn new things that never knew before. I don't think it is right to use how long a person has been with horses or other animals to determine their treatment all the time.

Now I know there be times where the vet can be wrong or in my case, I find "Dr. Death". So, that is why I don't get too uppity is because I can understand someone's position of trying to get a second opinion to help them figure out what to do. If don't trust the vet, then better find another one.

i can understand why they ask. i asked a dentistry question the other day and it was really helpful as health care professionals helped me out.

often people have been through the same experiences or are professionals and may be able to offer some reassuring help.

and sometimes what you are worrying about is more worrying at night which is when some members post so some reassuring words from someone is enough to make you feel better until the vets are open :)

If its some thing small ok. ask away. yet whilst its some thing heavily incorrect then take it to a vet. I accept as true with the human beings that say that some dont have funds to take it to a vet. One time my domestic dog replaced into opposite sneezing and that i replaced into terrified and took him to a vet whilst it ended up being not something. use ur very own judgement and make contact with a vet and tell them the indicators and if u ought to hold them in or not. in the event that they are announcing no... then possibly get some concepts from right here. sound good?

they probably would take their pet to the vet, but are just asking here because its easy and they want some reassurance at the time.
someone might have had an experience with a problem someone mentions about their pet and they might find out its nothing serious and they shouldnt worry

Probably because vets charge the earth and if it is only a minor thing, an answer here could provide reassurance. Anything major and you should consult a vet immediately.

The fact is that when people do ask those questions, the overwhelming advice on here is "take them to the vet". So, maybe they should know better, but at least we set them straight.

Vet fees are horrendous.....perhaps they check on this site first to see if it can be easily sorted. My vet charges £7 just for looking at a gerbil, not for the treatment.

1. Why not?
2. May be a vet on Yahoo Answers
3. you would get a quicker response
4. IT WOULD BE CHEAPER

People do that because people care and love their dog they might have asked their vet but they might not be right so they want other peoples suggestions too.
