Why do we normally see the blacks at the very front of each American war? Are they "Braves" or "Slaves"?

As much as many would like to make it appear as racially motivated, it is not. In reality it is not only the blacks who are at the front. All oppressed peoples are there. There are also a disproportionate number of Latinos, Puerto Ricans, American Indians, Inner City Youth, and especially Southerners (Of all races) from the deep South. This occurs because they have have less education and thereby less opportunity to obtain satisfying jobs which they are highly compensated for in civilian life so they see the military as as escape from their "Land of No Opportunity".

Having servred in the Military 6 years, 1969-75, during the peak of the Vietnam War, I see the service with a perspective that those without military service during that era do not have. The youth of America were against "The Man", college campuses were war zones themselves, the Civil Rights movement was in full swing forcing changes throughout the nation, and where was I at the time? In the closest thing to a truly colorless society that exists. In the military no one cares if you are from Brooklyn, Pea Ridge, Mississippi, or Butte Montana! No one cares if you are Black, White, Red, Yellow, Brown, or freaking Green! The only concern that anyone has is will you do your job! If you do, then you are greeted with open arms,,,,If you don't, then no one has any use for you.
Military life suits some, but not the majority of us. But if looking for a place where a Man or Woman is judged more by his abilities than his or her race, creed, color, or national/regional origin....look towards the Military!
