I'm sure you realize that fun is different for different people. What I find fun might bore you to tears. And vice versa.

To me, learning something new is almost always fun. Exploring the world of ideas, knowledge, information, imagination. Then playful competition is fun. Not to take it too seriously, but to enjoy the thrill of winning, and the pleasure of being a good sport when someone else wins. If you are playing with friends, you can be happy for them even when you lose (if you don't play for money).

I love games, but it's hard to find the sort of people who like the games I do. Nowadays people tend to want either video games or complex "role playing" games. I like chess, backgammon, Monopoly, Sorry, Scrabble, card games, like that. I don't play for money because I can't afford to lose, but I certainly can afford to give and take in playing games without money on the table.

Hobbies are important to many. Collecting things (tracking down the last part of a matched set), making things, being an "expert" on something.

I guess what I'm saying is using your brain is fun!
