Infinity is space and eternity is time. Being totally innumerate I was confused when someone told me that infinity actually comes to a point and turns back on itself. He didn't like it when I asked what was outside infinity. I can only suppose we're all living inside a gigantic eggshell. (We were both 6th form school kids at the time).

Infinity is a numerical definition and eternity is time. Eternity is an infinite number of years.

As for a preference I don't have one although infinity has quite a cool symbol!

in my humble opinion, both are undefinable.

but in loose human terms, eternity = "endless" as relates to time, whereas infinity = "endless" as relates to numbers specifically.

as for which concept i prefer, i guess i'd say eternity, since it sounds more beautiful at the moment.

Infinite has less scope - something can be infinite within an eternal world, whereas other things don't last forever within an eternal whole.
