I'm not sure medically why - and if you're worried you should visit your GP, but, my 3 month old also has a blocked nose most of the time, and coughs lots - I was told that babies do - the cough is caused by the blocked nose - it trickles down the throat and causes the cough. The blocked nose - well, babies are meeting every bug for the first time and will pick up colds and snuffles lots in the first year. There was also a LOT of gunk build up inside over their 9 months in-utero - this can be working it's way out for a while. If they are eating well, growing well, and generally happy - don't stress.

My baby had the same problem. My Dr said that it is normal. Just use saline nasal drops. Before and after feeds. This worked for me. You will also notice that if the wind blows, it is also worse. I also take a ear bud and just gently clean the nose inside a few min after using the drops, and if I can see anything going on there. Don't worry

Like it was stated it could be an upper respiratory problem, allergies, or you may need a humidifier. But in the mean time take your baby to the doctor it can be more serious than you think.

If he's not sucking a pacifier his sinuses can get congested. Get a nasal aspirator and some saline solution. Put a couple drops in each nostril and if necessary use the aspirator to suck the snot out.

Chances are he has allergies... do you have animals in the house ? Are you running an a/c ? Does someone smoke in the house ? Any mold in your house ?
I would suggest cutting all if any of those in your house first.. see if that helps.. I do suggest running a vaporizer in his room too the salt water may help hij to breathe better...
I have allergies and one of my kids do too..

I had this problem when I was a kid, turned out it was a dust allergy and my stuffed animals where the cause. Stuffed animals hold A LOT of dust.
Try removing any stuffed animals and toys from the area at night. Any plush items as well. If you cannot remove something that is plush or stuffed vacuum it well and lint brush it with one of those sticky tape lint removers.

He apparently has some kind of upper respiratory infection going on. You need to take him to the doctor before it gets any worse.

Because you don't breast-feed him--- or you smoke too much in the house and don't open any windows--- or maybe the air where you live is just really really bad!!!
