Jeter by far is the best shortstop in baseball right now. Vizquel is have a decent season but nothing like Jeter. If the Yankees win Jeter should be MVP in the AL. Vizquel is not having that type of season.

Offensively, Miguel Tejada. Defensively, Omar Vizquel. Jose Reyes is the best all around Shortstop in the game though. Jeter is a great leader and all the crap, but not overly outstanding in either offense or defense. He has that stupid little jump move...but that is only necessary b/c he has no range what so ever. Why am I not surprised that all the girls answer Jeter?

Although some have better stats than Jose Reyes, I have to vote for him. He is only 23 years old, and is shaping up to be one of the best shortstops of all time. He has an amazing amount of rbis and home runs for a shortstop. If he gets on base, it is almost guaranteed that he will make it home. He is literally running away with stolen bases this season. Derek Jeter is old news in my opinion.

I would say Jose Reyes, If he was not hurt he would have score twice in the allstar game. He leads the league in stolen bases, runs scored and has a high fielding percentage, also lead in triple. He is so fast he can turn off his bedroom light switch and be in bed before the lights are off.

If David Eckstein had a better arm he would be. He's great defensively and at the plate. He's got great fundamentals, but lacks the arm strength.
So, I have to say it's Jose Reyes.

yuniesky betancourt. He is unknown to most people, but he is the best defensive shortstop in the AL and hes not a bad batter either.
