well if you really think about it Israel has no real political gain from bombing Lebanon. Israel has never had a political agenda it is leaning toward ideology and the notion of their religion being superior. As regional hegemon in the East supported by the a US led West, Israel is fully capable of establishing what they feel is their God given right to the "promise land" and such right should not be violated by religious extremists.
One cannot however negate the fact that a country has the right to self defense, however it is subjected to certain situations. In reality both sides are keen in their activities and are not looking to surrender to any threat because it is not just a military war, it is also a ideological and religious warfare and to surrender or be the first to stop would indicate loss and defeat to a long established ideological war.
It gets political when the West strategically gets involved because for the West it is political warfare and the unwillingness to get too involved in the early stages may be to try to prove to other eastern countries the notion that "democracy will prevail".

Yes - power and politics are integral. Just as the Hezbollah attack on Israel is a political act. When one group of people act to damage another group, we naturally look to the reasons why they are doing so and many of the reasons in this case are political:
The central issue is (as always!) the existence of the state of Israel and all parties claim to represent a proportion of their followers by carrying out acts of destruction against each other. In this way the exercise of power is clearly a political one and so logically the conflict can be descrbed as being political.

Israel has opened a second front in the US war in the Middle East. The eventual target is Syria and Iran. These governments have been strenthened by the crisis created by US occupation of Iraq.
The US has tapped Israel to help fight Arab resistance in the region while destabilizing Lebenon, Syria and hoping to isolate Iran.
The political aims of Israel align very closely with the US.
In the end, its about the control of oil.

they want to defeat Hezbollah forever and keep the land they already took. Maybe to take more land if possible. Sure it is political. They were offered to negotiate and exchange soldiers with prisoners they are holding in their jails. Many innocent lives would be saved. But who cares about innocent lives when there is political aim to be achieved.

Hezbollah fighters kidnapped two Israeli soldiers, when Israeli soldiers went to get them they were met with military style tactics and weapons. The Lebanese police didn’t arrest the kidnappers and they didn’t evacuate the citizens from a danger zone.
The Israelis were forced to try and get their soldiers back. When Israeli soldiers attempted this Hezbollah fighters used rockets and automatic weapons to keep the kidnapped soldiers. Several Israeli soldiers were killed in the attempt.
The wide spread fighting with the Hezbollah fighters makes them accessories to kidnapping and guilty of murder. The vast numbers of fighters should make this organized crime.
With the failure of the Lebanese police at both levels, the Israelis must do what is required to get their people returned. Military style tactics require military action to get this done. With the failure of the Lebanese police to get their people to safety, Israel can’t allow the citizens to deter them from bringing the criminals to justice.
Organized crime of this magnitude can’t be allowed to escape punishment. The Israelis must use any and all methods to bring organized crime to justice, the numbers of criminals and the firepower they have makes military action of any level to get the job done necessary. Hezbollah has a member holding the position of Speaker of the Parliament an elected position voted on by the Parliament. This must therefore be considered as a government sponsored action and any action by Israel needed to bring justice is warranted.
Hezbollah should have caught the kidnappers and sentenced them to justice. The failure of Hezbollah to capture the kidnappers and the killing of Israelis makes all the Hezbollah fighters accessories to kidnapping and guilty of murder. The shear level of the numbers of criminals, should have brought outside aide to Israel in the suppression of the Hezbollah organized crime criminals.
The failure of the worlds leaders is to their eternal shame, and that the whole world shall have to bear. Our world leaders have become cowards and not able to deal with a large organized crime syndicate. The Israelis are left to do what ever is required to bring all the criminals to justice.
Had this accrued in the US and Hezbollah hid in a neighborhood, then used rockets and automatic weapons on the same scale. The US military would level all the buildings occupied by Hezbollah and bring down the buildings with the criminals inside. As soon as the police had evacuated the citizens who were in danger.
Israel is doing no different, the law is the law and the organized crime syndicate known as Hezbollah must be brought to justice, no matter the cost. The law is clear and must be enforced.

better to name it: a natural trend and trait in the Jewish Israelis towards killing and enjoying the smell of blood.
The Jewish killed Jesus and some other prophets of their own .... and care only for power, wealth and being on the top of every thing - as they are now fooling the American people.

They would say it was, and they would say it was in the best interests of defending their nation.
But, just like the Lebanise, they are full of prejudice, hatred and fear. Both sides are in a cycle of violence and cannot get out.
