As we step into 21st century, technology is getting better n better everyday. More n more 3D animation studios n 3D animation students started to pop-up and keep producing 3D animations without hesitation. And it feels like the 2D animationsis starting to fade away. Even Walt Disney, the big boss of animation, concentrates more into 3D. Luckily we still have Japanese animes to continue 2D. But is that going to stay long as 3D is getting famous in Japan. What will happen next? Is 2D really going to be extinct?

Personally I love 2D very much. And I have no doubt that 3D has some good in it. But with the speed of animation production these days, are there any quality in it or just simply to tell the story faster?

I don't think 3-D is just telling the story faster. I would love to do a 3-D project that takes a lot of time. 3-D is limited in time and function, not to mention 3-D animators have to take classes to learn the programs, 3-D animation is expensive - look at the 3-D out right now. Do you see many great movies? No, just a few. Pixar is the leader in 3-D animation but it's going to take a while to make better 3-D movies. How horrible was Hoodwinked? People still watched that movie because 3-D is exciting. Movies in 3-D will be more popular than animation in 3-D because there are a lot of great movie producers and animation is limited to a certain extent. Animation will eventually pick up.

I'm a fan of both 2D and 3D animation. tO tell you the truth, I don't care about what D the animation is, as long as the story's good. It can be 2D, 3D, or even 1D, and I wouldn't care, as long as the story is good. Yeah, I hope 2D though, never dies because I love it and I wouldn't want it to good. There are still cartoon shows in 2D, so hope is not all lost.

2D animations. More chara's spirit become alive in 2D. The 3D animation is good too, especially the one came from Square-Enix such FF VII:AC (damn cool!!) BUt 2D is better, I agree. A 2D animation with some 3D backgrounds and effects is cool too, I think.
