GSM all the way!!!
I like the flexibility I have with GSM. If I see a new phone that I want but I don't want to renew or extend my contract - all I have to do is locate an online retailer. I can purchase an "unlocked" version of that phone, take the SIM card out of my old one, place it in the new one, charge the battery and I'm good to go. With CDMA that's a different story. To do that with CDMA you have to buy the new phone if you can find it somewhere and then take it to your CDMA mobile carrier to have them activate it. Then you have to pray that you bought it from a reputable seller because if the phone is TAGGED as being stolen they WON'T activate that phone. CDMA has a slight advantage in audio clarity/quality but for me, I'm not looking to make or receive mobile phone calls in high definition.

I like CDMA. It has better call quality and data speeds. The drawback is less battery life and less user adoption to GSM.

CDMA is what the United States and Japan currently have, and China is reaching for to compete in the next generation of wireless. QCOM for you homegamers.

GSM is big because it was first to market, but the spectrum with it is limited.

GSM is a more widely used frequency around the world.. so I would imagine GSM would be the way to go.
