I have played the home murder mystery dinner parties with friends. They were fun, but everyone had a motive- deduction powers were not necessary. BAsically you coud tell the suspect if you knew your frinds and saw who was acting suspiciously because of his character, not because of what the role told him.

YES, YES, YES!!! SOO MUCH FUN!
I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I go to at least one a year, and every-time I have a blast. They work really well if the group your with, do, in fact, act. It doesn't mean the party will be a drag if they aren't, I simply find it more enjoyable with actors...
Even just getting ready for the party is fun in itself. You know, finding the perfect costume, getting your props together.... great fun.
You can find them at malls, online.... I highly suggest them.
Have fun and Break a leg!

Yes.
Once at a home party and once on a train ride.
Hideous. Awful. Embarrassing. Ugly. Disappointing.
The food was cold; the guests were inappropriately dressed and the story line was abysmal.
Shall I go on?
I suggest that you don't go - on one.
