Where were they found? Isn't it possible to put them in a suitcase? In this specific event, how do we know what flights they would take, etc?

Simplystunning, when I say suitcase I mean baggage destined to the bagagge compartment. I know it is danger, I am just not sure that not allowing hand luggage is enough protection. Why don't you try answering the questions instead of making comments?

They were going to mix the chemicals in the bathroom and then ignite them. They would have to use a different type of bomb in the cargo hold.

My company's software is what enabled the officials to find the explosives. Our software analyzes X-ray images (very soon pixel by pixel) and can tell when the molecules are of an explosive nature or just regular day-to-day items. Our software can "see" potentially dangerous items, as well, but anything bomb-like shows a flashing red "ALERT!" sign on the bottom of the screen. The terrorists attempted to carry the red liquid explosive in disguised Gatorade bottles. They also had the detonators in disguised cell phones. It doesn't matter if they hide the materials in the lining of suitcases, books, or "food." If the authorities have our software (many don't, yet. Russia's onboard), the explosives wil be detected. Since there's no way to know which flights or airlines will be used, ALL security on both sides of the Atlantic are making sure all bags get checked and that there are NO carry-ons. The ONLY outside liquids they're allowing right now are baby formulas & milk. Many of our U.S. Marshalls have gone over to the U.K. to help them through this scary situation. Hope this helps ease your mind.

Hello sweetie, hand luggage? suitcase? In case you didnt know, you can carry a suitcase onto a plane, and when you go through the TSA screening, they check the contents of the bag by hand. Even if it was to be carried on by hand or smuggled onto the plane via a carry on bag, it is a danger. If you knew the answers to the other question you posted you should be working for the DHS.

Because they needed a means to detonate them and anything electric or mechanical in the luggage would probably be found. I am guessing they required fire to cause them to explode. Which could be done by a passenger.
