YES it can cause damage... if it is not done correctly.not so much to the inside of the vagina as to the opening of the vagina .. you have to remember when a woman gives birth she has contractions which over a period of time ( some longer then others) prepares her vagina for the passing of a child..and even with many many hours of contractions that bring the baby lower and lower into the vagina allowing it to stretch...and then eventually out.. often women tear... it is not uncommon during childbirth for a woman's vaginal opening to tear half way to her anus or even all the way to the anus if the doctor doesnt take certain preventatve measures.. such as massage or even cutting the tissue before it tears... even if something half the size of a fist is forced into a vagina too fast........ without the proper preparations it can result in major tearing.. which can not only be painful and but can cause some serious bleeding and infection... any of it requires medical treatment... and if you have any preexisting medical conditions it can complicate issues more depending on the condition..
I suggest you either find a good book on the subject or talk to someone who has masters the art... BEFORE you go trying to stick your fist inside anyone or let them stick thiers in you...

I have to wonder why anyone, man or woman would desire such a practice sexually, but , to each, his own, I guess.
My opinion as a woman is:
Having a baby come OUT of there is painful enough! I can't imagine having something humongous go IN !
Men in general don't like stretched out P****'s, so why would ANY woman want someone to do this to her? Would he be satisfied with her afterwards?
There are sex toy shops on every corner that sell SAFE, BIG things if she wants something bigger.
I have explored many taboo practices, but this one just seems downright violent and abusive.....not to mention demeaning and damaging........even if done "correctly", I can't see that the benefit would be greater than the risks to someones body.

If you can give birth to a child, the answer is no, but again depends, if really rough or careless, or not washed or hygenic properly, you can get infection or teared membranes.
