Presently I am using one provided by my internet provider and the one provided by windows but I am not sure if they are conflicting with each other. I am not 100% sure that they are doing what they are suppose to.
Also, my computer takes about 5 minutes to load up. Is there a way of speeding this up?

Check out kellys-korner.com. She has all the tweaks you need for WinXP. You might also want to consider a dlink modem for extra protection @dlink.com. There are many popular internet security programs you can try out such as Trend Micro, Norton Internet Security Deluxe and Kapersky. Good Luck!

Instead of trying to protect Windows (which is widely known to be poorly designed for security), consider changing to something that doesn't need continual extortion money for continued protection. If your box can run Windows, it can run one of the BSD or Linux versions as well - and those are free, and *designed* to be more secure.

Oh, and although Microsoft is going to charge you for upgrading to Vista in the near future, Linux upgrades to the next release are free.....
