I recently saw a quick clip of it on t.v and it was very interesting. Has anybody else heard of it and do you have any information about it?

Legends of this type go back years..
The Jersey Devil, ranges in appearance depending on who is telling the tale, but it usually involves some kind of hybrid like creature, human-with wings, Hare with wings and fierce teeth.. Or even a Large Hare with horns or antelers.. etc etc..
this type of legend dates back to Irish settlers in the Jersey area who brought their beliefs and superstitions with them when they emigrated.
A popular Irish/Proto Celtic Legend is one of the Jackalope, who bears stricking resemblance to all reported sightings of the jersey devil.
The jackalope in turn comes from Celtic/Anglo-Saxon culture, and strangely is (for want of a better word) a joke.
When poor people in these areas were caught poaching The King's deer, they would quip to the the magistrate/court, that they thought it was in fact "A rabbit-with-horns"
Another term for a rabbit is a "Jack"

This is a cool subject ! Yes, A & E / Discovery Channel had a documentary on it and it's very fasinating ! Supposedly, ( 200 years ago ) a woman who gave birth to a child ( didn't want it ) for it was cursed had a devil child that was tossed ( cause it was born with wings ) and still resides in New Jersey ! The full story is really scarey and the documentary ( with eye- witness accounts ) that this devil with wings and a camel shaped head is still out there ! The hunt was overwhelmingly nerve racking cause -there were unexplained occurrances ! See if , you can find it ! It"ll make your hair stand on end !

the jersey devil is fabled to be the thirteenth child of a woman whose husband was just a jerk. So she cursed the child and it was born, demented and such... and supposedly it lives in the woods around a certain town. check it out on line etc. there are also documentaries on sometimes.
