im not sure. i havnt seen him in anything 4 awhile. and i miss him. hes really funny. i loved all his movies he made with richard pryor. they were a blast, laugh out loud kind.

I know he had Cancer a couple of years ago (non-Hodgkins Lymphoma?) and recovered from that, so he may be just resting and doing other things besides movies.
Also when Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp came out it was no secret that Gene was NOT happy about it being redone (his was the 70s Willy Wonka/Chocolate Factory) so maybe he got a bad taste about the whole Hollywood scene after that?

They took him in for a deep condition & repair treatment. He's still there.
