Old Metallica by far - seemed to be much truer in those pre-black album years - my favorite album by them is Ride The Lightning - def had thrash elements but showed their progression towards Master of Puppets

I prefer the old one until Black album.I mean Metallica at the point
of releasing Load album had become another creature!
I love Metallica, but i think these 4 albums:Ride the lightning,Master of puppets, And justice for all & Black are...
holy music came from the gods!!! All their stuff are cool but after
'95 they were a "progressive metal" band....!
Metallica used to talk about "the other side" of daily routine life,
& that was awsome! That's why I like Old Metallica like prophets.

Metallica rocks no matter what they do.
The old stuff is especially good, it's associated with a lot of good memories for me. The new stuff is a bit more sophisticated and has a lot more thought put into it. The guys couldn't stay 18, drunk/stoned and angry forever, they grew up got family and rearranged priorities. The music was bound to change.
it is better than the Stones.. they just keep on going and going and going.... with the same old cr#$.

The old Metallica was the best, they knew how to play some good butt-kickin' metal music with alot of attitude and substance, anything after the Black Album was when they totally went downhill.

I love Metallica, new and old stuff, but I would definetly say that I like the old stuff better because it has got all the elements that make up a good metal band; fast and heavy.

You can't expect a band to always stay the same, bands like metallica try to be creative in their work. that's why they've changed.Although i believe that for fans who have always loved ,metallica since their first songs(like myself)it's a little bit disappointing to listen to St. Anger but anyway we shouldn't forget that they are trying to attract newer and younger fans as much as keeping the old ones.

old metallica, I just watched live s*hit:binge and perge..it has the old 89 concert and that fu*kin rules so much energy and James voice is unreal.
I have to say that I like load and reload but am not sold on St Anger...

Old Metallica. It was less refined than the later - complete but rougher.
