I think the gov't should be audited every year by a 3rd party. The citizens have to face strict rules, so should the gov't. They work for us, don't they?

You're right, but politicians never ever think further ahead than the next election. No one in Washington (in the White House or at the Capitol) is thinking as far ahead as December, 2006, because 34 senators and all 435 congressmen are facing election!

The government is broke, the smartest of the bureaucrats know it, but trying t fix it COSTS VOTES so nothing is going to be done.

Once the problem is enormous, then, after the horses are out of the barn, we are going to have annual indpendent audits. We need them now, but I don't expect it to happen for years.

The best kind of government is one who fears the people was once said by a famous politician forget who it is, but it is very true the government is to large and powerful and no longer fears the common voter which they should.

I agree...but they'll never allow it. The whole sponsorship scandal by the Liberals (although they all do it, the Liberals were just the first caught!) should be the catalyst to begin this type of external audit.

Yes, they do work for us. They just don't know it. Please remember that 50% of the population has an IQ of 90 or below when making statements about the public being smart enough to face facts.
