It was a tough and pointless war for both side but the general consensus is that the Northern Viet Cong (supported by China and Russia) won when the captured the southern capital of Saigon (now renamed Ho Chi Mihn city), forcing the evacuation of US forces and an end to the war.

North Vietnam won when they finally capture Saigon...America withdrew around that same time and South Korea just gave up after that. Today Vietnam is communist due to the victory of communist North Korea. :p Eh...its all good XD

depends on who you ask... like anything having to do with history there are always at least 2 sides to every story. as far as war itself everyone is a loser in my eyes. it's the loss of human life and decimating geographical areas to rubble over political struggle. who is the winner no one just a result. the only time war should be acceptable is when to remove a tyrant leader who aspires for world domination. (Hitler).."can't we all just get along"-- peace is an ideal that should be instilled in every human being starting from birth on. can peace be achieved easily? answer is no. but with every generation that passes and that humanity has successfully planted the seed in the youth of this planet, we are that much closer. unfortunately with about 193 different countries in the world with 193 different political views the thought of achieving peace is unlikely. but we should keep on trying to revolutionize the political leaders of the world and demand this. Utopian principle. just that none of us is perfect at anything doesn't mean we should stop trying to achieve perfection! **note** peace can be used as a mean to an end with political struggle- GANDHI - peace it starts with you!

Last I heard, no one did. The US Government wouldn't let us.

Can't ask soldiers to go in and fight a war, maintain peace and promote democracy blindfolded with one arm tied behind their backs. The odds just aren't good. Our men gave it a hell of a try though.
