The owner of a property has the right to make restriction so long as they don't violate laws concerning race, religion, creed, etc.. There are presently no laws written that guarantee the right of a parent to rent.

If someone was living in a building with children and the landlord put that in place it would not apply to those already living there. Only to those moving in afterwards.

Some others commented about destructive children. I saw it in the complex where my parents lived. They ripped up flowers and ornaments and made noise right outside the apartment instead of going to the playground. My folks eventually moved to a "no children allowed" building. That is sad because my parents love kids, all kids. But they shouldn't have to tolerate kids who don't respect others property. The parents were the real problem not the kids.

I think it's legal to ban children, because a couple cities in my metro area do ban children from living within the borders. But I've also been told that it's covered by equal housing opportunity laws, so I really don't understand that. I don't know why you'd ban kids, really, unless there was a market for child-free apartment complexes. And given that most apartment dwellers have kids, you'd be shooting yourself in the foot to ban kids... that's how it is in my area, at least.

first its easier to evict a pat owner if there problems than a family with children. Damage to property is greater by children.
the pets permitted usually are the small pets, not the larger over 50 pounds and the small ones do not cause as much damage.
Yes it is legal: Owners of the property can basically do what they want with it.

it truly is truly unlawful to "ban" little ones. they're between the numerous "secure coaching" Landlords and executives will be sued, fined, and prosecuted for discrimination. that is a honest housing situation. they could decrease the fashion of persons to occupy an condo, yet you could't specify little ones or adult. The exception to this rule is retirement communities.
