There is an herb called; "Valerian Root",.. which is the plant from which the drug Valium is derived. You can safely take 3 or 4 capsules of Valerian root before you go to bed and see if that helps you to sleep. .... Someone else here mentioned "Melatonin" to you. Personally, I have tried melatonin and never found it at all helpful, but you may find otherwise if you choose to try it. ...... I have found valerian helpful and non-habit forming with no side effects.

I would also reccommend that you get plenty of exercise during your waking hours. Exercise will help to ground and balance your system and thus help you to let go into a resfful sleep at night. ... You also may want to take a look at what you eat throughout your day and evening. If you are drinking coffee or black tea during the day, this may be promoting your problem. .... Eating a healthy balanced diet is important when it comes to being able to sleep well at night. .................. If you are able to enjoy some healthy good sex before going to sleep, this can also be a big help with being able to sleep.

Also,... make sure that your bedroom is well darkened and that you are not being disturbed by noise around you or your outside environment. If this is a factor, there are some great very comfortable foam ear plugs that you can purchase at any True Value hardware store in the U.S.

These are all things to consider with this problem. There are certainly others that I have not covered here.

I found 2 remedies useful: 5HTP (which is really triptophan - the thing in turkey that makes you sleepy) and also Aluna. But none of these work for very long. I found 2 things that have helped me to sleep: First, NO ALCOHOL before bed - you'll go to sleep and then wake up around 4:00. Second - if you do wake up at 4:00 - go ahead and get up! I tried it, and eventually your own clock will balance itself out. Good luck.

I use Malatonin. I buy it at the Health Food Store, as it is an amino acid. They also sell it in grocery stores, but I tend to believe that these products are of lesser quality, so I go to the Health Food Store.
Melatonin is around $3.95 for a bottle of 90 tablets. I find that one 3mg. tablet 20 minutes before bedtime does the trick.
If this doesn't do it for you, you can safely up your dose to 6 mg.
Sweet Dreams.

Ginger tea will probably not help it is generally used for nausea.
Chamomile tea on the other hand will help you sleep.
also in many teas made for aiding you in your sleep, they put mint in them. mint is more of a stimulant... also i don't know how much time you spend on the computer but sun light is awesome... it stables everything out... as little as 20 minutes a day could help you sleep and if you are experiencing depression or fatigue it could help
