While it may not seem like it is spasming it may still have a knot in it.

You could try a physical therapist that can do massage to the area or even put you in neck traction. They sell the neck traction machines that go over the door but with you having scoliosis I would not recommend trying it without a doctor's advise.

Scoliosis was not caused by the neck spasm.
" Scoliosis is a descriptive term and not a diagnosis. As such, a search is made for the cause. In more than 80% of the cases, a specific cause is not found and such cases are termed idiopathic, i.e., of undetermined cause. This is particularly so among the type of scoliosis seen in adolescent girls. Conditions known to cause spinal deformity are congenital spinal column abnormalities, neurological disorders, genetic conditions and a multitude of other causes. Scoliosis does not come from carrying heavy things, athletic involvement, sleeping/standing postures, or minor lower limb length inequality."

Now I would not be surprised to find out the way you are holding your head and neck to compensate is what is causing your pain.

Can you go to a walk-in clinic where they will let you make payments? You really should be seen as it could be a lot of things. Advil is an anti-inflamatory so if it worked, it could be a pulled muscle or it could be a gland that is infected. Some pain radiates from where it starts to a different area. I take it you don't have any teeth that could be abcessed? I had neck and jaw pain due to this but no headache. Which doesn't mean anything as we all react differently to such things. Sounds like the pain is managable with medication but it may only get worse if you don't get it diagnosed. I would say that one Doctor visit would cost less than a hospital stay! Good luck.

Should have been to a chiropractor last year..That spasm didn't appear from nowhere. There has to be an underlying condition which caused the spasm. That factor is what is in need of treatment.

If it's still spasming, then you can get a muscle relaxer to stop the spasms, but if it's just sore now, then I really don't know what to do. You could buy a microwaveable bean thingy that you put on your neck and it feels really relaxing and nice...? Don't really know.

what activity were you doing when you had the spasm?a spasm can be caused when the muscle is used to being in one position and it is taken past that position. the muscle spasms because it is trying to go back to its original position. you need to ask your doctor more about your condition. noticed that some people suggested getting a massage. you need to ask your doctor if you are okay for massage and get a written note okaying you to get a massage that can be taken with you to give to your massage therapist. i'm a massage therapist but i say check with the doctor first.

Check out a chiropractor. THey've got a bad rap becuase insurance companies promulgate rumors...let's face it--who controls the medical industry--INSURANCE and where do they make their money--prescription meds and surgery. Why don't you go directly to the source of the problem by consulting a spine specialist.

Try "structural integration" methods like Hellerwork, Rolfing, KMI.

They have a good track record in non-surgically treating scoliosis and neck issues.

Email me and I will send you some breathtaking pictures of someone with severe scoliosis who was treated with Rolfing.

X-ray neck is required ,postro-anterior and lateral views to see your spines and discs in between and then proceed from there.

It sounds as though you've suffered a pinched nerve. Has anyone given you this diagnosis? Be well.
