Probably one of the greatest vampire films ever made, writen by Stephen King... very scary! but you have to like older movies, like late seventies early eighties style.

Since it's so old now it has been somewhat forgotten. "Carrie" put Stephen King's name on the map. "Salem's Lot" didn't hurt his reputation but "The Shining" as directed by Stanley Kubrick was outstanding. Yeah, I know only "Salem's Lot" was a vampire movie. Well, I don't really like vampire movies as much as I like good psychic horror. It's a matter of taste.
I think "Salem's Lot" gets passed over because frankly, although it was good, there are better vampire movies out there. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I've only read the book- it's great, will rent the DVD soon to see if it lives up to the written word...
I loved the movie version of The Shining, despite it's discrepancies with the book, but a good movie is a good movie!

That's because the original one - came out in 79 or 80 - sucked horribly. I never saw the remake - for some reason most of Kings' books don't do as well as movies; perhaps the scripts just don't translate or don't get written right.

Salem's Lot is one of the few movies that I can't watch..it scares the crap out of me!! Especially when the boy is floating outside of the window...aaaaggghhh! freaky! I love Stephen King!

Stephen King is giant! - reliable selection for my section, the fairway MILE Is the suited. that's were given a good Storyline And Is Emotinal And Gory as well as technology Fiction. It Has slightly An air of poser as well... yet if you discover your self searching for organic Horror, bypass for CHRISTINE, IT Or CARRIE And For youthful Readers, THE EYES OF THE DRAGON is giant! It's a good movie, but the book was way better. I love reading Stephen King's books.

I saw it actually a few months ago.. i didnt know what it was about before watching it.. all i knew was the name.. and i thought it was pretty good. i wouldnt say top 5 though. maybe top 20.. but my top 5 is a lil weird any way... lets just say from dusk tel dawn made it

yes. there r two of them. the 1st came out in 1979, and starred david sole, james mason & lance kerwin. its the original. of course, it was written by stephen king. very scary, good cast. i recommend u se it if u like vampire movies.
