This is quite an extensive program but it is known to have helped other children with this condition so I thought I'd provide it to you anyway. This is the program a lady put her 10-year-old son on with wonderful results. She also included a history of how her son as progressed over time but I'll just include the program at this time.
She uses all natural Shaklee supplements.
Here's what she does twice a day:
She crushes all these Shaklee supplements in a coffee grinder.
2 B-Complex
2 Sustained-Release Vita-C
2 Super Cal/Mag
3 Acuity Plus (for mental clarity)
1 DTX (liver detoxifier)
1 Zinc Complex
Then she cuts open the following oil-based capsules and drips them into the mixture:
1 GLA Plus Complex
1 OmegaGuard
2 Lecithin
3 Heaping T. Energizing Soy Protein
1 T. Vanilla Meal Shake
1 Serving of Optiflora
She puts all his supplements in applesouse, mixes in the protein, adds a little Shaklee Vanilla Meal Shake, Optiflora powder, and cinnamon for flavor and it tastes like an apple pie. Sometimes she nukes it for 20 seconds to make it warmer.
Hope this is helpful and best wishes.

There are many different views on treating Autism. Your work with diet is certainly an important aspect of the treatment.
One of the things that I have found that helps is bodywork. Find a Massage therapist or Occupational therapist that practices CranioSacral Therapy (www.upledger.com). We work on many children at our clinic with pretty good results. Just like any other therapy, this isn't for everybody. But, it does no harm and if it works for your brother, then it was worth checking it out.
A source that you may want to check in to is the Townsend Letter (www.townsendletter.com). This is a magazine on Alternative medicines. They did a complete issue on Autism a couple months ago.
Good Luck to you and your Family!

To help alleviate some of the sensitivity in an autistic child, sound therapy, especially sensory integration can help especially if he only has an autism spectrum disorder. I have a nephew with autism and this is the next route we're taking for him. http://www.autism-mi.org/resources/index.html#3 There are other therapies that are being used. Are you near a research university? They might be someplace to contact.

The most common vitamin supplement used in autism is vitamin B, which plays an important role in creating enzymes needed by the brain. The use of vitamin B and magnesium, almost half of the individuals with autism showed improvement. The benefits include decreased behavioral problems, improved eye contact, better attention, and improvements in learning.
Make sure you check with his doctor before you changed or add any vitamins/medicines to his diet.
Best of luck.

The heritability of autism is the share of autism that is defined with the aid of genetic version; if the heritability of a situation is intense, then the situation is seen to be in general genetic. Autism has a stable genetic foundation, despite the fact that the genetics of autism is complicated and that's doubtful regardless of if autism spectrum affliction (ASD) is defined extra with the aid of multigene interactions or with the aid of uncommon mutations with considerable outcomes.[a million] Early learn of twins predicted the heritability of autism to be extra desirable than ninety%; in different words, that ninety% of the transformations between autistic and non-autistic persons is via genetic outcomes.[2] this could be an overestimate; new twin archives and fashions with structural genetic version are mandatory.[3] whilst in basic terms one same twin is autistic, the different many times has gaining expertise of or social disabilities. For grownup siblings, the probability of having a variety of of useful properties of the wider autism phenotype could be as intense as 30%,[4] a lot bigger than the probability in controls.[5]

There are many things that you can try. There is an organization called DAN which stands for Defeat Autism Now which is a group of doctors who use biomedical treatments with autistic children. I am using a doctor from this organization to work with our son.
To find a Dan doctor and to learn about biomedical treatments go to:http://www.autismwebsite.com/ari/dan/dan.htm

Autism is not a disease but a brain disorder that typically affects a person's ability to communicate, impairs social interaction, and severely limits activities and interests. Some people with autism are relatively high functioning, with speech and intelligence intact. Others are mentally retarded, mute, or have serious language delays.
