so you just admitted that when someone categorizes all black people as ghetto it's true. lol WOW can't believe you did that however that's pretty racist to say "white people". I'm white i don't pronounce anything lol OK maybe i really do but alot of people i talk to don't. It's not black people words either it would be considered a stereotype. And why can black people only be ghetto. No one thinks that your dumb if you use the slang. It's your actions and things that you say not how you say them. And why is it that these words are what cause fun? I have fun and i don't use a whole bunch of slang and really whats the difference by pronouncing rite and right, lol they sound the same Hun! I would say that people who think that people who use slang are just jealous because lets face it people who don't use slang are book worms for the most part and spend to much of there time making sure that everything is perfect and don't have nearly as much fun as you and me do. But it's not only white people.

I'm so glad you asked that question.
The Mayor might not see it, but if you get in the habit of talking like that important people will see that you can't talk straight English.
I'm white and some of that language has crept into my vocabulary but I try to keep it under control, it's fun to talk like that but if you are white you feel excluded from that, because you can't talk like that as well.
This kind of language promotes illiteracy, and indicates that you are or might be illiterate.
The main reasons I don't like to talk like that.
1. It promotes illiteracy, and makes me look illiterate, and illiterate goes hand in hand with dumb or ignorant. "Yo wassup?" won't work in a job interview.
2. I'm not very good at talkiing like that so I should not talk like that at all.
3. The pronunciation changes, and is confusing, which is poor communication.
4. This is part of an underground culture that promotes illegal activity and drugs.

I mean no insult. There are plenty of educated people, and very brilliant people of all races that talk like that. But please be aware that it's not good communication, and if you get in the habit of talking like that you will be looked upon as uneducated, and actually you do lack good communication skills, and if you talked like that in an interview for a job I wouldn't hire you? The same goes for saying "um" alot, and "well" and other bad speech habits, it's not isolated to just ghetto talk. Certain regions have words that are habitually spoken incorrectly, which are acceptable in that region, but not in others, so if you want to get ahead, learn how to read, and speak perfect English, and avoid using slang terms or pronouncing words odd.
A regional accent or an accent that sounds Black is fine, but poor English is just poor English.

Some people said you're not black, just pretending. If you are black, you must be pretty mad about that.

The reason white people don't like it when black people talk like that is simple: it excludes them.

White folks see black people messing around 'and they be doin dis and whaddup wit' dat?' and they feel like they are missing out on something. Just like hip hop culture and all that. Of course, if a white person goes around talking like that, people be thinkin dat boy be crazy! So they can't win.

That's not to say it's like something that really makes white people angry, just a minor annoyance. So don't worry about it. It's more important to worry about the people above said - speaking that way isn't going to get you a good job. Look, Condaleeza Rice doesn't talk that way when she's speaking to the King of Egypt or whatever. ('sup King, y'knowwhutamsayin'? These is some damn fine pyramids y'all got right here!)

Listen to the black leaders in society. Do they talk that way? No. Because they know people will not take them seriously as an intelligent thinking person. If you had to get a major surgery would you want the head surgeon to say "Ok lets jack this b itch up" or some sh|t like that?

First of all, ya ain't black.

Im native american and when an african american speaks 2 me with that kind of words, I most of the time don't understand and I hate to say "huh" cuz ya'll don't like 2 repeat anything. But I say "what?" and make them repeat it anyway.

The point is they have no idea what ya'll are saying, thats all. Thay don't hate it.
