I cant believe no-one has said the primary colours! BLUE, RED YELLOW AND GREEN. find the brightest of each one and do a wall of each. most of the toys for kids are these colours so they'll match

Paint the bottom half the walls pastel Green, then the top half paint them like a pastel yellow then where the two colors meet in the middle do a swirly all the way around in say a lavendar/pretty blue/nice light red or dare I say pink or maybe some cutsie blue bows painted where the colors meet every 2feet.

For the rest I like to mix n match. The same ol theme through the room gets boring so just put a few carebears here and there maybe throw in some ducks, frogs, polka dot curtains, butterflies!!!! Picture frames

We found a sample card at Lowes that showed a very cute room that we chose for our girls. It is a bright happy green called Lilypad ( i think). The walls we painted the happy green and used Yellow, Blue, Orange and some lilac flowers. There is a picket fence painted on the bottom of the wall with the flowers sprouting out every so often. We found that most any store we went to had something to match the room so we did not have to buy all the accesories at one place. Nor did we have to worry about getting everything from one line so that it would match up.

i seen this real cute room made up like an out doors scene- the walls and ceiling were done in light blue with sponged in white clouds. It had a white picket fence wall paper border around it with butterflies on some of the post. Depending on the age of you granddaughter- the head board of this bed was a white picet fence piece cut to fit. Around the walls there was different colors of pastel butterflies on the wall.

What about a theme like sesame street, building block, or butterflies, teddy bears, alot of people do themes and then it has all colors i like really bold rooms bright colors you could do clowns but then the baby could have night mares around two or so. You might want to decorate it for more then i year try and find something that will last through like the toddler years then you will save in the long run!

I think a light green (like an really pale olive green with a white trim) or a really light yellow would be cute! Or, you could try doing a tanish color with a very pale light pink for the trim...that way there is not too much pink in the room!!

Teddy bears always work. I once saw a baby's room with teddy bears, all different kinds. The walls were a beige or tan color, and the trim was done in dark blue(midnight blue maybe). The teddy bears all wore clothes and accessories in red, white, and blue. I believe wal-mart has a line of decoration and bedding to this effect. Check it out at walmart.com!

One thing that I did in my daughters room is I painted a portion of one wall with chalkboard paint. She is five now and there is always something new on her personal chalkboard. It also puts an end to marks on all the walls of the house.

I take it that its a girl then if you want pink.

Well how about Baby green (Its like a soft green) Or even a light yellow. Or how about a silverberry (Which is like silver and purple mixed together - Dutch boy has the paint and it is very cute).
Also, if you have a theme - Then take a color from the theme and play with it !!

Just have fun with it !

Good Luck and Congrats......

On CNN they showed a replica of Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie's baby's room, and it was done in really soft pastels and was really pretty. I think it might've been pale green. You could search the CNN website under the Jeanne Moos stories--she did a story on a Baby Shiloh being added to Tussaud's Wax Museum and that's where I saw it.

When I was young my parents painted a beautiful mural in my room, of the surounding area, and then on the wall by my crib, space complete with stars and planets. It fueled my imagination for years. They said it was to help me grow up seeing a bigger picture, and it has absolutely helped me throughout the years. If I had a problem, I would just sit and stare into one of the scenes, and it would all seem more bearable. It was the hardest thing to leave when we moved.
