Warfare can only weaken terrorism, not eliminate it. But winning the hearts of people will do wonders, more than any gun or bomb will ever accomplish.

With the right type of warfare yes. But polotics have to be involved also. Money makes the world turn Here is an example, in Afganistan near the base, the locals have set up a so called haji market, where they sell souviniers and different items they get money from our soldiers, if a sniper shoots at the base or a mortar is shot at them, the base closes the haji market for a month or so, thus it stops the money flow to the locals. In turn they find out hit attacked the base and a day or two later there is a dead body in front of the base with a mortar or a bullet on his chest showing that they got the guy who did is and then the market opens up again after a month. In Hezbollahs case it is more difficult since Lebanon is its own country and they support a terrorists group with in their country as do Syria and Iran. But you can stop terrorism by using warfare the bad thing is that a lot of innocent civilians will die stopping it.

We can blow away entire nations, without Nuclear weapons, we have MOABs. 22,000lb conventional smart bombs with nuke blast power but NO radiation.
M…..Mother
O…..of
A…..all
B…..bombs
WE have Tomahawks with fuel-air explosive war heads. The big Tomahawks can carry 10 war heads. They can burn entire cities with fuel-air explosive.
First the MOAB, when the shock wave clears, in comes the Tomahawk. The entire city is flattened and then burned with fuel-air explosive. The fuel-air explosive burns everything left and it burns off all the oxygen. There is no way to survive!
With our satellites we can target every Arab city in any terrorist nation, and then lock them all into a firing solution. Then at 3am any morning the order was given, every Arab city targeted could be blown clean off the face of the Earth, all at the same time.
We could land our troops 30 minutes later and own the entire nation. There wouldn’t even be anyone left to shoot at our soldiers. The only thing that would be left are giant smoking holes in the sand. Maybe then the other nations would say “ What ever you do don’t piss off the Americans! They can blow away our whole nation with the push of a button, just like they did to those stupid Arabs!” Maybe being “ Dust in the Wind” would stop all stupid BS America bashing. At least to our face, what they to themselves behind our backs doesn’t matter.

I think we have been fighting the wrong 'war'. The war on terror (whatever that means) implies that we are fighting terrorists as our biggest concern.
While I am not dismissing terrorists as a threat or as a terrible occurence (especially to its victims), I don't believe that inflicted 'terror' is the biggest price we pay. The biggest price we pay is the impact on our day to day lives:
on the various changes to what we do that affect our freedoms
on the way that any one thing you say or do suddenly labels you
on the way that we tacitly accept things such as racial profiling
on the way that temporary measures have an uncanny way of seeming to be permanent
on the way we are trained to view 'different' people with suspicion
on the greater intolerance we have for each other
on our willingness to first assume the worst
I think that on this war we are unfortunately losing.
It seems to me that in most of the things that truly matter in the long term....life was better before the 'war on terror' began. Terrorism has been around for millenia. Perhaps the 'war' should be against something other than 'terror'. Maybe the war should be against the causes and instigators of terrorism (both in the superficial and immediate sense i.e firebrand leaders; and in the more subtle and deeper sense i.e. eliminate the factors that build the breeding grounds for terrorists)
After all it is in all our interests if we truly want to be free.

Terrorism is a by-product of extremism, religious disharmony & ethnic intolerance. The problem is the more we suppress it by force, the more it grows, so I am afraid we cannot defeat it by force, Israel is a clear example, it could not end the voilence with all its might & support of the USA.
All we need is to address its root causes and that too on JUSTICE.

If, as they state the only goal they have is the total destruction of the Nation of Israel. What are we going to negotiate? To have successful negotiations you have to have some middle ground.

If warfare doesn't then I don't know what does. They don't care what we think or say. They have religous reasons behind there actions and want our destruction and/ or enslavement. So you better pray war can stop it.

Body count certainly puts them on the run, it won't defeat them, but it will hinder them.

Unfortunately it has the opposite effects of fighting fire with fire.
Violence begets more violence.
