Phone cards if you'll be making long international calls. You might want to also talk with your phone company to see if they have a long-distance plan if you're regularly making long distance phone calls. My wife and I make long distance calls to our families all the time and we have a flat long distance rate that isn't dependant on how much time we talk long-distance per month.

http://www.skype.com/

you can make calls from your computer to a homephone/cell phone. it's much cheaper than phonecard or long distance calls. it is even better if both parties have mics/webcam on the computer, it would be free. I use to this to webcam with my bf who is oversea now.
