Why or why not?
Wouldn't this make it safe for the women and men (and children) involved, as well as for public health in general?

Yes. If for no other reason than it would mean the end of pimps. Prostitution is an unalterable fact of life. Make it legal and make everyone involved safer, I say.

if it's legalized it would cause the health of ppl to go down!! Prostitutes have AIDS and stuff because they're trying to support their drug habits or are addicted to sex. sleeping with multiple ppl is dangerous and gross when u don't kno them. Why would anyone want to sleep with random ppl???? Be a stripper, it's safer

It would cause less problems in certain areas and may result in a drop in the number of rapes. The prostitutes should have to have licenses that are renewed every few months that state that they are disease free.

Morally it is wrong to have sex outside of marriage and there are too many people exploiting their bodies as it is. Why would we want to condone it by making it legal?

Yes.
If you have a brothel like they have in Nevada then things will be-

Safer for women(No pimps, STDs, etc.)
And better for the nice customers.(They won't get arrested)
