It's not that bad. It's a in-clinic procedure takes about 1 hr. and the urologist gives local anesthesia and I watched my vasectomy in the mirror. Your husband will feel incovenience for a few days, just ask him to go wear a jock strap to support the boys a few days.

As for intercourse, you can resume after a week or so (you will know) but don't toss away the condoms yet. He needs to give semen sample after 4 and 6 weeks. Until then use the condoms or whatever b.c. If both sample results are negative for sperm you can say goodbye to the barriers.

Good luck and cheer him up, it is the least he could do for you instead of you going through a complicated procedure.

he will go into an office and have a sheet put across his waist so he can't see anything then a nurse will come in and shave his scrotum. the dr will then come in and give him a couple of numbing shots and will begin to feel around for the tube he needs to cut, make a small incision and pull the tube out cut it and stitch off both ends. he will then do the other side. your husband will be sore for a few days - try some frozen peas on the area. after the week or ten days resting period he will then need to "clean the system" of all the semen that has any sperm in it so that he can return to the dr in about 30 days and make sure the procedure took. from the 10 to 30 days time you can really give him a hand. the more he ejaculates the better it is.

Mine did it too. It was no big deal. Two **very** small incisions. So small in fact, that I had a hard time finding them. He says it was a non-event. Very little soreness. It was just a day trip and didn't take very long. My father-in-law was on the golf course the same night as his own vasectomy, but that's not advisable. He should take it easy for a few days. But really, continue to use birth control for a few more weeks until he is healed and gets a 0 sperm count! Sometimes those tubes find their way back together even after being cut, stitched, and burned! (Rare, but it happens!)

No.......
Neither would I have one.
I know that the Ladies magazines say how it is much safe for a man than a woman, which from a surgical point of view is correct.
Vasectomy can be performed under local anaesthetic, whilst laparoscopic sterilisation is a bigger operation.
HOWEVER vasectomy carries a 2% risk of chronic testicular pain! ie. 2 out of 100 men will ache for the rest of their lives, and there is no cure. 20% will have pain for at least 2 month following the procedure.
Vasectomy is NOT a simple operation, and should not be undertaken lightly!
As a surgeon its money for nothing and takes like 15 minutes to perform!
2% PAIN FOR REST OF YOUR LIFE GUYS!
(not all surgeons honest enough to tell you this)

It was not bad at all. The worst part for me was shaving, (I get nervous around women with razors). The nurse shaved me and then it was basically snip snip. I felt a tugging as they stretched the vas deram (incorrect spelling) to cut each side. There was no pain, took a break for a few days and all was fine. It had no effect on my ejaculations, actually increased sexual activity with the wife with her initiating sex more often. Mostly because she does not need to worry about me getting pregnant and it is not necessary for her to take any pills and most of all, she did not need to get her tubes tied.
I did not lose any of my manhood at all. I have never regretted my decision to have a vasectomy.

they might give him some valium before hand. to relieve stress. due to anxiety. and then. they will take him to a room. have him get undressed and get on the table. they will cover him with some paper. a couple of nurses will come in and prepare him for the procedure. one will shave him. if he is already shaved they will shave him anyways. its part of the procedure. then the doctor will come.he will wash his hands. and put on some gloves. and he will describe what is going to be done. and then ask if there is any questions. then he will begin. first he will give your husband a few shots to numb his scrotum. they are going to hurt like hell. it will sting and burn. and then it will go numb. then the doctor will make an incision. into the scrotum. and reach in and pull out some tubes that look like earthworms. then he will give the tubes some shots. they are realy going to hurt like hell. it will be like someone shoving a large pin into your testicles. over and over and injecting them with a large amount of fluid that burns like fire. and eventually makes them go numb. he might make a few involutary noises. like a wounded animal. grunting and groaning. then they will wait for him to stop squirming around. and then the doctor will put some clamps on the tubes that he pulled out of your husbands scrotum. the tubes are attached to the testicles. the doctor will slice off part of the tube. and then he will burn the tubes closed. its going to smell like burnt testicles. sometimes the patient. describes feeling the tugging going on inside his scrotum. and it makes him vomit. or cry. or both. he might start screaming. and yelling. finally, the doctor will shove the burnt tubes back inside your husbands scrotum. and then close the hole with a few sutures (stiches). he stand up . remove his face shield. and say thats it. and then remove his gloves and leave. the nurses will tenderly cleanse and dry your husbands genitals one more time. and then describe some aftercare instructions. i would suggest that he get a prescription for vicoden, or percocet along with the valium to take before the surgery. also. you should start giving him oral. on a daily basis. or least on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays durring the week. and both saturday and sunday. he will have to abstain from sex for a period of time afterwards, so that his scrotum does not rupture. durring this time you should not allow him to watch pornography. or allow anything to bump into his genitals. like children or small animals. he should not ride a bike or swim. or go horseback riding. or ride roller coasters. or bullriding. or ride a motorcycle. you should follow up with the weekly bj routine for the rest of your life. you should also allow him to have a fling with a buxom 18 yo lolita at least once. and then a five year long affair with the woman of his choice. and hold your tounge the whole time. you should also stop looking at babys. and never ever ask him for another baby so long as you both shall live. dont forget you owe him the beejers.

No, but it's a simple medical procedure with no need for total anesthesia neither extended convalescense. The doctor just make a slight incision on tje scrotum to tied the seminal conducts That's all. However, after that, there's still a period in which you have to have protected sex.

My first hubby had one because he never wanted to have to be a father, (he said if I HAD to have a child, he would ALLOW me to have one as long as it would keep me there and I understood he would take no part) so I told him to go ahead. I found out later he was sleeping with half his office staff afterward so I divorced him...ANYWAY, the actual procedure.....Sorry, I'm back on track now...LOL..It was outpatient, with a local anesthetic, and he was a little sore for a few days. Had to keep an ice pack on it for a few hours after wards. no big deal. sorry for the diatribe there, just that you need to be sure WHY he needs it in the first place.

yep.....it hurt like heck for about 12 hours, then I was swollen for 3 days. Then for months it would hurt if I jumped or went down stairs fast.

My brother in law had not problems.
