I believe that if people have tolerance amongst each other, the world would be a better place. Can you think of any effective steps that can be taken to increase the tolerance?

People need to really talk to other people and get to know them one on one. I dont like the idea of tolerance, I prefer the concept of embracing and appreciating others. It is such a wonderful experience to talk with someone who seems very different from you to find out they have qualities you admire and respect.

well said eduarodi and that starts at home. We all get to decide what kind of person we're going to be and pass that on by the way we treat other people. Also we need to learn to see others as individuals. If someone wrongs you , it's b/c of what that person did - not b/c they are a different race or from a different culture. Don't blame a whole group. One person at a time. Anyway, I don't think I'm making sense anymore too tired. You'll get my point. Keep the faith.

Step one: have enough room for everyone to live and enough resources to keep them all comfortable.
Step two: minimize the differences between the haves and the have nots.
Step three: outlaw religion along with all extreme forms of art and cuture and institute a single common language.
Step four: make all laws universally applicable.
After that- which really only takes a complete social revolution- the only difficult thing is to keep people motivated without any rewards.
Didn't work so well in the USSR, but maybe they didn't really try.

tolerance as to different races? My little nieces are going to be color blind, they are being raised around other kids of all races, and they arent going to hear anything stereotypical from their parents or from the super uncle Ricky. Tolerance in general happens when you tell the other person what they did that made you mad and they apologize, haha

First of all, we should be accepting, not "tolerant".

A good way to learn acceptance?
Go visit another country where you are the minority. If you are lucky enough to have the same color skin, you can see what it feels like to get treated like crap just because your accent shows you are "different".

Believe me, you learn real fast what prejudice feels like and it isn't fun!

Kill all the people, or have a world dictator. That would be the way to promote tolerance.

Hate to sound pessimistic, but honestly nothing....there are too many ignorant people in the world. Sure a few folks can change, but there will always be ignorance!

PEOPLE SHOULD LEARN NOT TO IMPOSE THEIR PERSONALITIES, TEMPERAMENTS, OPINIONS AND PREFERENCES UPON OTHERS.

This way, people will have a sense of acceptance and a lot of breathing space.

not as long as you have religions and different races, and different forms of government, and starvation and slavery, fix the world for us.
