funny story... one of my friends had this dryer and for some reason it started drying clothes less and less until one day it didn't dry any more.
She called a repair man. He looked that the motor and ect and everything looked fine. THen he looked around the bin and found socks inside the dryer. They slipped in.
So.... the socks may very well be in the dryer! LOL!

Mad Magazine did back in the 80's. It turns out every dryer is equipped with a super sock socker. The SSS is programed to sort through pairs of socks and only take 1 from a pair. It then turns the socks it sucks into lint

Funny you should ask that question, I had a laundry basket full of unpaired socks and I asked my 5 , 7, and 9yr olds to pair up the socks, it was not as easy as they thought, here's hoping that next time they put their socks in the wash they get them both from under the bed, under thier pillow and where ever else they hide them and put them in the wash together as a pair

The sock either goes down where the lint filter is if you have one inside the dryer and now on top or the sock gets stuck on other articles of clothing due to static and we find it later on and if you are like me have probably already thrown the first one out.

I frequently find missing socks in the elastic corners of my fitted sheets when I fold them. If anything is missing, I unfold all the sheets, they're usually the culprit. Also, check the washer (esp. front loaders) really well to be sure all the laundry is out, this is how small things get lost too, especially at the laundry mat.

well it never really dissapears but rather bets lost in with the rest of things. Usually my socks rarely have a missing parnter but when they do I search high and low for them. I carefully look through shirts pants and sheets when I'm folding . when I started doing my laundry years and years ago I didn't loose my socks as often. Socks are usually so small that it is easy for them to static cling to something and not notice its their.

The only logical thing I can conclude is that when the washer empties to go into the spin or the rinse cycle, the sock goes with the water. And a little monster eats it. :)
