between 5-30 dollars depending on where you get them..One word of advice it is not the cost of the hamster it is the cost of the equipment, and also they make a lot of noise at night so if you are a light sleeper try a guinea pig.

about ten to fifteen bucks for the chinese dwarf hamsters, very cute but not as affectionate as the more standard hamsters. good luck
