I was wondering if anyone on Yahoo wears old dresses from the pre-19th century or early 1900's.

Why do you wear these fashions (other than the beauty and pure history) and where do you buy your dresses? Or for the gentlemen, your outfits?

Do you go to costume shops or some other place?

Some extremely gorgeous clothing back then. Women looked and acted feminine. Ahhhhh....The days of romance......Unlike today..With the ho hum 'in' thing of jeans and tank tops that scream 'SEX'...Dresses!!...They made a lady, “a lady”!"

I don't wear the vintage.. but do wear long dresses and skirts/blouses that whispers 'feminine'

Below there is a link to some 1900's clothing..

I love wearing older style dresses, but unfortunately I can never find any in my size. Since I already knew how to sew I decided to make them. I bought patterns and such from JoAnne's and made outfits.

I wear the older fashions because theyre classy. I'm in my 1940's stage but Ive been though them all. I enjoy summer sundresses and tasteful suits, because they arent skimpy but theyre still fitted. Ive never come across anythign in a store that fits me as well, or looks as good as the ones Ive made.

I don't, but this guy in my neighborhood dresses like he is in the Civil War. Seriously. Sometimes he is dressed like the north and sometimes the south. He carries 2 loaded pistols from that time period on his belt at all times, and I live in Central New York, not the dirty south. It's pretty random to see him walking around the grocery store like that.

Odd question. I just can't see myself sitting around with a hoop skirt and a corset with fifteen petticoats made of horse hair. Nope, I prefer Levis and a tank.

But, I did wear a c. 1890's gown in a play that I was in at a local civic theater. I made it from a McCalls pattern.
