I have had four children and asked my doctor the same thing. I was told that it is ok. It won't hurt the baby. I know several people who have done it. Personally, I was still too afraid to do it.

Well, according to most people around me, you are not supposed to dye your hair when you are pregnant because you will inhale the fumes from the chemicals and the chemicals will go through your skin and folllicles into your body and that is BAD for the baby.

Try not to if you can. If you really must colour, then ask your stylist not to dye all the way to the roots and leave a one inch gap. That's what my stylist says he does for pregnant women who insist on dyeing their hair.

I dyed my hair when I did not know I was pregnant. My baby turned out okay though..

However, it is a terrible terrible thing to have dyed hair during pregnancy because your hair will continue to grow and since you are not suppose to color it again, you have to leave it like that for the next 10 months. Longer if you breast feed. And it is not a sight you would like. I know I didn't.

So, I have coloured my hair black so that my hair will look uniform the next time I get pregnant ;) hehehe..

I just had a baby 6 weeks ago, and my ob/gyn told me no I couldn't dye my hair because of the chemicals in the dyes.

No. If you need to get your hair all one colour so you look nice for your pregnancy, do it then leave it alone for the rest of your term. Remember...anything that you take into your body ...so does your baby.
