Actually it should. I live in a very hot place and we used to hose down the terrace to make the rooms below liveable. In fact some of the people build little troughs to fill with water when it gets too hot. So spraying the roof with water should bring down the temprature. just depends on how much water.

yes - a little. It would also help if you had a lighter colored roofing material. Darker material absorbs heat while lighter colored would reflect it.

What really helps attic fans - spraying down the roof follows the same concept.

By watering down your roof, you might be able to decrease the interior temperature by a degree or two

Spraying water on the roof reduces the temperature in your attic. Since heat in the attic can affect the living area (depending on insulation quality), you may reduce the indoor temperature by reducing the attic temp.

When water or any liquid evaporates it causes cooling to take place.
Look up the latent heat of evaporation.

Spraying water on your roof would case some fo the heat stored in the roof to be used ot evaporate the water.
This would be pretty small though, not worth the effort.

Yes It will bring down the temp of the house in side but is is better to install ventilation in the Attic If you keep moving out the hot air from there the house will cool down by 15 deg. or more

Not very much. The best way is to have white roofing in the summer and black in the winter. Best way to keep it cool is an attic fan to the outside. You can even go solar and only have the cost of the set up of the fan.

it helps some not much.. but if you water the sides of your house as well as the roof and the lawn right around the house works fairly well.. if you have any trees near the house soak them to.. when wind blows sends a cool breeze instead of hot ....

It doesn't bring down the temerature and ofcorse increase the humidity if water is spread inside, but still doesn't reduce temperature.
