International Flights: at least 3 hours before departure.
Domestic flights: at 1 hour before departure.
With the last events occurred in the UK, at least add 1 hour to the above mentioned times. Airline check-in lines are not so dramatic compared with the security lines.
And if you enjoy having a coffee or any drink before your flights leaves, at another 30minutes.
You only have to pay a charge, depending on the fare you purchased. Anyway, it was the airlines fault, don't worry. No charges are involved. If you missed cause you arrived late or did not show up at all....get your money ready to pay.
I hope this explanation helps !

Depending on the airport and the flight (international vs. domestic) anywhere between 15 minutes and 3 hours. If you are not checking any bags and are flying out of a small airport where you know you will breeze through security, you can arrive about 30 minutes ahead of time. However, security at an airport like JFK will take you twice as long just to get through. My dad always airs on the side of caution and says 2 hours for domestic flights and 3 hours for international flights.

Two hours are needed for domestic flight; while 3 hours are good for international flight. I had an experience to miss one flight to Toronto, Canada last year. Fortunately I got a seat on next flight without any charge.

maybe 4 hours international, but 2 hours domestic should do,
in order not to miss your flight, that will likely be delayed 1 hour.
Experience today, they always offer 'next available' flight at no charge, infact, might put you up for the night, if needed.

Can't answer all of it, but as I am traveling tomorrow (international) I called the airport this morning & they said get there at least 4 hours ahead of departure time. I plan to call again in the morning to see if this is still true.
