i am song writter and i just want to know whats better bmi or ascap?

BMI has historically been more open to composers of rock and roll, jazz, folk music, blues, and country music who sing and play their own music, while ASCAP has been more identified with non-performing professional songwriters from Hollywood, Broadway and Tin Pan Alley.

Don't know, really.
Make sure you copywrite your stuff
Save all the paperwork or burn it to a CD or something.
Talk with both groups to see what sort of thing they offer and what they do if someone tries to steal your intellectual property!
In Australia we only have one group to go with, as far as I've found.
