Well partly the art work itself will deem a certain price. Start checking out small stores and see what local artists are getting in that particular medium..
Getting the money for your art can be difficult, the term, "starving artist" has a real meaning. Many artists tend to sell themselves short so never charge enough. It is a difficult thing to do to decide how much to charge for your talent, and again it will of course depend upon the medium used. Paints are cheaper than metal, as is paper. I can give you this link to look at I can not say how useful it is as I have not looked deeply into it, though it is in my favorites. My husband is an artist, in metal, for the last 18 years. Most of his work had been given away and he is still learning to not sell himself short..... His gift and talent is easy for him so he feels it really isn't worth much finacially..... well as his wife and best friend I tell him differently, as do others. Check it out and the only other thing I could possibly suggest would be to take a business course. selling yourself is going to be your project, not just your work... Good luck to you and I hope that you don't lose your vision because the money isn't always there.. Keep it in your heart and mind and soul. Take care. If you would like more information I can see what I can find for you from my extensive lists.........................Keep your vision and always share it money or not. Best to you again!!!!

Treat them like your customers! You are running a business, not a charity organisation. The price, at best, should be slightly discounted as compared to other customers, as they are FAMILY and FRIENDS :-)

depending on what kind of design work you do, in most cases you can charge per hour. If its a artwork for show / display, I would charge per item a flat fee.

you can start at $25.00 - 45.00 per hour as a designer
or start at $100.00 for a piece of artwork you would display in your home or office. it all depends on what kind of designer you are...
