For the Skeptics:

Thank you, Milly, for taking the time to post an enlightening question.
After initially setting out to dispute and debunk Astrology years ago, I can not. I thoroughly believe it works after years of study and after years of reading natal charts to the amazement of family, friends and some clients.
Over the years, I have learned a tremendous amount of information, Astrology is extremely detailed, and I hope to branch out and continue to learn about the various streams of Astrology: Natal, Prediction, Relationship, Mundane, Electional, Horary, Medical (decumbiture) etc and to study the various forms: Modern, Hellenistic, Traditional and Medieval to name a few.
It is not possible to understand Astrology thoroughly, what it can and can not do, without studying it yourself, and I don't mean sun sign garbage like we find online and in the newspapers. It takes years of study, book reading and application.
Proper Astrology uses a place, date and exact birth time. If you have moved to a new location, then that does affect the chart and a new one must be calculated using the new place of residence. The entire chart has to be interpreted not just a Sun sign.
The trouble with online charting is that they are "cookie cutter" read outs, and not as thorough as they would be if you had interpreted them yourself using book or if you had gone to a Professional Astrologer who has been trained.
For those that don't think that Astrology is valid, that's your prerogative, but it is my prerogative after years of study to say that it can and does work. When the non-believers have studied as long as I have, then we will talk not before.
Other things to look for beyond the "cookie cutter" readouts, which makes the chart far more accurate:
You are more than just your Sun sign. You have a Moon and all the rest of the planets. You have an Ascendant (mask, approach to the world) and a Midheaven (reputation, status).
Your Natal chart is based upon date, place and exact time of birth, not just date of birth.
The planets are placed in signs and then in houses and aspects between those planets are calculated. All this and much, much more must be looked at and interpreted.
Things to look for in a Natal (birth) chart reading:
Your Ascendant, your MC
Your 10 planets in signs
Your 10 planets in the 12 houses
The interplanetary aspects between the 10 planets and points (Asc & MC), Vertex (destiny), North Node, South Node and Chiron.
What is the elemental emphasis in your chart - fire, earth, air and water?
What is the modality emphasis in your chart - cardinal, fixed, mutable?
What is the house emphasis in your chart - Angular, Succedent or Cadent?
What is the Northern/Southern hemisphere emphasis?
What is the Eastern/Western hemisphere emphasis?
What aspect patterns do you have in your chart: grande trine, kites, grand square, t-square, yods, mystic rectangles, grand sextile, etc.
Do you have Mutual Recepetion in your chart?
Is there an unaspected planet? An elevated planet? Where is the chart ruler in the chart and what aspects does it make?
Are there any intercepted planets and/or signs in the chart? Are there linked houses in the chart?
What signs are on each of the 12 house cusps? Where are the planetary rulers of each house placed and what aspects do they make?
All these along with free will determine who you are and what your personality is like.

"Love & Blessings" after that, Milly? :)
Well, I must say that you misuse the word "ruled" when you state your point. We simply aren't ruled by planets, or I assume you meant, the actions and movements of them.
What I WILL grant you though, is that heavenly bodies do have an impact on all organic systems. Gravity is a major player in the activity of anything with mass. Even each single person has a measure of gravity because he has mass. Where it becomes interesting is in things like tides. The moon pulls at the water in the oceans and creates enormous pulls in the tides. It would be foolish to think that humans, created 70% of water, are not similarly affected. Granted, the effect would be extremely small, but not totally absent. Plus, I will agree that the time of day and year do have an impact on a newborn. If a baby comes out of the neonate hospital, carried to the car in a -20 blizzard as his first experience in the world, it will have a different approach to one that comes out of the hospital on a beautiful spring day. Although miniscule, the effect is there.
Now, numerology is a different matter. It is like saying black-haired people are smarter than brown-haired people. Numerology is fun to calculate, and it whittles down a complicated matter into one of simplicity and ease of use. But it carries little weight to the question of the larger picture. Not a ZERO one, but a very small one, like Astrology.
So, I hope people aren't, as you say, "afraid" of those ideas, since that would spell fear about what they aren't informed of.
But, in the end, how one person changes their negatives is a myriad of possibilities. If Astrology and Numerology have done that for you, then great. But I wouldn't assume that what works for John will also surely work for Jack.

I'm fascinated by numerology. I strongly believe that numbers reflect certain aptitudes and character tendencies, as an integral part of the cosmic plan. Each letter has a numeric value that provides a related cosmic vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and the sum of value derived from the letters in the name provide an interrelation of vibrations. These numbers show a great deal about character, purpose in life, what motivates, and where talents may lie.

I can't remember my life path number, but I remember reading into it when my friend showed me a sit for it. It was very accurate! Kinda scary at how dead on everything was. I do believe it was more accurate than astrology, but not by much--not for me anyway. Most of the traits numerology gave me matched up pretty well with my Scorpio sun--and my own personality, of course.

My, my, you must have had a crappy horoscope today for you to be so judgmental and lecture us none-believers whom you know absolutely nothing about. I don't believe it because it is a load of hooey. Call me a skeptic. We Virgos are supposed to be, aren't we. Do you honestly think I am going to live my life according to what some so-called astrological expert says in twenty words or less in the daily newspaper? I have never had one ring true. Oh, by the way, I was born on the cusp of Leo and Virgo and neither one applies. And yes, I was born with a number. I was also born naked. But I've since learned a thing or two. I know more about myself than you ever will. Perhaps its time for you stop star-gazing and come down to reality.

I'm not close minded, but I do not put store in astrology, numerology, or mysticism because it takes away the feeling that I have free will. I like feeling as though I am responsible for my own destiny.
Peace.

i just don't believe in astrology & numerology. actually i have not tried to find a reason for it. when i see people running to astrologers whenever the r in trouble i feel sorry for them. instead of wasting money & time on astrologers they can think properly to solve the problems. most of the so called astrologers are fake. they just assume & tell something for money.may be there are real astrologers but for them we have to spend astronomical money. even what they predict may not come true.for me whatever should happen will happen . so , worry about it ?

G'day Milly,
Thank you for the question.
The scientific community, where it has commented, claims that astrology has repeatedly failed to demonstrate its effectiveness in numerous controlled studies. Effect size studies in astrology, conclude that the mean accuracy of astrological predictions is no greater than what is expected by chance, and astrology's perceived performance has disappeared on critical inspection. When tested against personality tests, astrologers have shown a consistent lack of agreement with these tests. One such double-blind study, published in the reputable peer-reviewed scientific journal Nature, claimed to refute astrologers' assertions that they can solve clients' personal problems by reading natal charts. The study concluded that astrologers had no special ability to interpret personality from astrological readings.
Numerology and numerological divination were popular among early mathematicians such as Pythagoras, but are no longer considered to be part of modern-day mathematics and are now regarded as pseudomathematics by most mathematicians. Numerologists often apply distinct definitions to individual digits. These definitions and the resulting permutations between individual digits, or in a mathematical equation, will result in multi-fold meanings.
Today numerology is associated with the Occult, alongside Astrology and similar divinatory arts. This is similar to the historical development of astronomy from astrology, and that of chemistry from alchemy.
I have attached sources for your reference.

I put no stock in numerology or astrology because I defy all the predictions made about me. I have yet to see any truth in those predictions. I find my Truth in Church, not the misguided ramblings of "psychics" with too much time on their hands.
