If you quit you can't collect unemployment. You have to be fired. Your benefits will be cut off faster than your head can spin.

Anyway, working any kind of a job brings you in more money than unemployment. Keep the job. Do your work cheerfully and to the best of your ability.

There is no law saying you can't look for another job on your free time! If your new job is that bad then by all means get a new one!

Also - if you are only at this job a few weeks and you find a new one soon - you don't have to ever put it on your resume.

If you do end up having this job for a while - think long term - leave on a good note. You might have this job for a while - you never know. In the future they will be used as a reference. You want them to be able to say good things about you.

Well, this is the reality of life itself and this is not applied when we're in school. But to survive in this world, wherever we go, we have to tackle the issue by doing our job the best we can. Do not give too much attention to the 'drama', but at the same time, do not be too ignorant that you don't even speak to them.

Just be normal nice to everyone and do your job well. This experience could be vital and useful in future.

I used to be in that spot, only worse. I was young then and the organization is a very big one. Was working under a secretary who had been there for 20 years. In fact, all the 25 secretaries in the company had been there for 10 years and longer.

All the part timers before me only spent a day there and resigned after that. Although they hate seeing a young girl in the office, I still tried my best to do everything I could. I was not given permission to even speak to any of the employees there( imagine that!). And I did it for 6 months until I got a very good offer for a permanent job. I left... and the next girl who came in the next day only spend half a day and ran off! So, tolerance is one thing, and being smart enough to tackle issues is another thing but both of them are equally vital!

If you feel that you can at least try to survive in this situation, I bet with my life, anywhere you go to work in the future, you can handle anything!

But be wise, if you've tried but yet is not satisfied with what you have achieved there, try elsewhere where you can find a more challenging and rewarding career. All the best!

I'm sorry to say that after years of switching jobs because I didn't like this or that, favors to some employees and not others, family members in the workplace getting away with doing nothing and getting paid just as much, there is a list as long as my arm as to things I didn't or thought I couldn't deal with anymore. The fact is that every place has its Pros. and Cons. What you need to do is figure out what you would like to be doing for a living and something you can enjoy at work so that it doesn't seem like work because of your enjoyment and interest. Quit as soon as you find something more interesting the retail

I have always said that it is best to not quit a job till you have a new one lined up. First of all it looks better to potential employers. It shows that you are not a slacker.
Secondly, what would make you feel worse - working there for 2 months or sitting at home feeling sorry for yourself. I kow from past expereinces I have felt worse to be unemployed than working the crappy job.

Don't quit -- it's too early.

If you quit early on at any sign at all -- you are developing a resume of job-hopping. That will reflect poorly on you.

Stick it out. Look for something else and then make a decision based on having another option. If the new opportunity looks better, make the switch then. If not you stuck on and succeeded where you are.

yeah, sounds like a bad job. find a new job, then quit this one. if they're being rude and showing favoritism, then that can bring down your whole morale and you're just gonna end up hating your job worse and worse. sounds like this company has some serious authority issues - like your boss holds it over your head that he is THE BOSS!

should you quit? no.
not until you've found a new job or they fire you for your attitude.
