Being frightened is a reasonable reaction.
I suspect the plan as we have heard about it is pretty much all there was and it probably isn't going anywhere now.
I think there will be more arrests before it's over with, but the chances of them being able to successfully carry out a plan now are not good.
One of the reasons a plot like 9/11 could succeed is that it is basically a fairly simple plan that could be easily executed. 9/11 was sophisticated in that it involved multiple execution at the same time by four teams of hijackers.
But all four operated on the same basic plan, which was relatively simple. I think it's unlikely that the terrorists busted in Britain were planning multiple types of attacks because of the interdependencies and intricacies involved in doing so.
We should expect other threats and we should continue to expect them for the forseeable future.
Be aware, be alert, and respect the threat. But don't be paralyzed by your fears. None of us are getting out of this life alive anyway. Let's carry on with courage and reasonable caution.

The terrorists were tying to use an accelerant/explosive liquid on the plane because they figured they would make it past all the scanners. I'm glad this little plan was busted cause my sister just came home from vacation in Barbados yesterday morning and its my loved ones or myself getting killed in an air accident I worry about.
Frankly, I think American security has to be more careful since terrorists who are thinking outside the box will try something newer and better every single time.
Did you know that Israel has a 3-type Identification on their EL -Al airline?
If you are Israeli - you are Low threat
If you are international - You are medium threat
and if you are Arab/Muslim - you are automatically a Serious threat.
Israel keeps 6 armed air marshalls on every single flight.
Because of this racial profiling, they haven't had a hijacking since the 60's.

I'm frightened too. I have a flight to Italy in October and I'm scared to death. However, we can't live our lives in fear, we must continue, we must go on.
They will not stop. There will be more attacks and they will be large scale, because they want to make a damn statement, don't they?
Hopefully those attacks will be averted as well...
It is frightening how close we came to something like that.
God knows what else is still out there.
I have a feeling that this "interruption" will ony further fuel their desire to ruin us all.

the very fact that this supposed plot was uncovered stinks of a staged settup ... its a very simple plan and doesnt require hardly any support from anybody ... just some people willing to die to do it .... they build it up like its some major terrorist plot and all high tech an stuff ... the fact that you are frightened is the desired result .. accept more tight govt control and back up more aggression by western powers in the middle east .... if terrorists wanted to kill u like that they would go to a nice mall and open fire with assault rifles , a group of 9 could kill literally hundreds before they were "martyred"... all low tech like that .. quit letting urself be manipulated by fear and wake up ....

well, after the jr high i went to for three years burned completely to the ground, my old best friends b/f got shot to death, and my kitty past away...the terrorist thing is just another one of those ''life's a b**ch'' moments. okay so my cat died monday, but i'm still heartbroken so it counts. dang, today was a really bad day

Our life is going to be like this from now on. For years America was spared this kind of stuff now we're right in it with everybody else. Our children will never know what "freedom from fear" is like and that makes me sad.

This is just one of all the horrible things going on in the world. There are people getting killed everyday, living in poberty and children dying of hunger among so many other horrors. We live in horrible times.

What if the (Western) World took the war home to these "people" (and I use that term very loosely) i.e. eye-for-an-eye, tooth-for-a-tooth just as they are doing to us. As the saying goes, let's "shoot them with their own ****".
I think it was high time we took the gloves off and really started hammering these scumbags.

This really is a scary world we live in.
Yes, lines will be longer at the Airports but if that means mine and your safety then so be it.
