Use a program like Dupeless.

You can use it to scan every file on your hard-drive or just selected folders. You can specify how it searches, what it does with duplicate files etc etc.

It's available from PC Magazine and costs $7.97 but it's money well spent.

I have over 2 million files on 5 hard-drives and a scan of the whole lot takes about the same length of time as a full anti-virus scan (about 6 hours). If you're just scanning a few thousand or tens of thousands of files then it takes less than a minute.

More info and download from... http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,24075,00.asp

There's another program called No Clone which does the same thing, I've never used it so don't know anything about it other than it's a free download and free trial... http://noclone.net/ I would guess like a lot of these free trial versions that there will be limitations to it and you'll have to go for a paid for version of you want full functionality.

The easiest way i know how is to use the star key (*)
an example *.exe, the star key is a wild card key .exe is the extention.
So if looking for a document that you cannot remember the name that you saved it as, you would got to the search and type *.doc, this will give you a list of ALL doc's on that drive, then you can delete any duplicate. this way you dont have to download anything or pay for a program that you will only use a couple of times..

Hope that helps.
Also another short cut key to minimise all open windows is to hold down the windows key and hit the m key.
